Carnival Magic (2011-built, last refurbished in 2021 May, Fun Ship 2.0 refurbishment in 2016) is the second of all 3 Dream-class Carnival cruise ships - together with Breeze and Dream. Included in that space are flotation and mud treatment rooms, a huge thalassotherapy pool, and thermal suite with tepidarium, laconium, Oriental and aroma steam baths, and a relaxation lounge. Although the thermal areas are only available for a fee, there are complimentary saunas and steam rooms in the men’s and women’s changing rooms. One of the new entertainment attractions on Magic include a new comedy club, to be held in the 425-seat Burgundy Lounge.

Due to scheduled drydock refurbishment projects, in September 2020 CCL canceled all planned for 2020 and 2021-Q1 itineraries for 4 ships. Prior to the COVID crisis, Carnival Magic was homeported in Galveston TX for 7-day roundtrips to the Bahamas, Eastern, and Western Caribbean. Feature port destinations included Key West Florida, Jamaica, Nassau, Belize, Mexico (Progreso, Cozumel, Costa Maya), Roatan, Grand Cayman. Cucina del Capitano is Carnival’s older Italian restaurant, while RedFrog Pub is much like the free BlueIguana Cantina (think Mexican and Latin-inspired eats, along with the well-known cocktails from the same regions).

The Lido Marketplace offers international flavors at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Modern cruisers enjoy much larger vessels than these ships, which are now basically considered mid-range. When Carnival Magic appeared on the scene in 2011, the cruise industry sat up and took notice. The two Fantasy-class ships that are left are mostly used in secondary ports — such as Jacksonville, Florida, and Mobile, Alabama — that might not be able to support bigger vessels. Built in the 1990s, the Fantasy-class ships are Carnival's oldest and smallest ships, and the line is in the process of phasing them out. It removed four of them from its fleet soon after the COVID-19 pandemic began, and this year it removed two more — Carnival Sensation and Carnival Ecstasy. New “cove” balcony staterooms, located closer to the water line, offer up-close sea views and a bit more interior space. Also new are deluxe ocean-view staterooms featuring a unique design with five berths and a two-bath configuration that includes one full bathroom and a second with a combination tub/shower and sink. Every cabin has adequate closet and drawer/shelf storage, as well as bathroom shelves. High-quality linens, plush pillows and duvets are a luxurious touch in all accommodations.
In addition to sprucing up just about every space on the ship, the money was used to add classic Carnival attractions that the ship lacked. This included a full-blown water park, which replaced a single waterslide on one of its top decks. Originally designed and ordered for Italy-based Costa Cruises — a sister brand to Carnival — the ship is actually a sister vessel to Costa's four Concordia-class ships.
Magic’s public rooms are breathtaking, with its imposing atrium covering ten decks and glass elevators to the Pool deck. The Song Jazz Lounge features one or two musicians playing classics of the 70’s, 80’s on the stage near its small dance floor. Sam’s Piano Bar, a sing-along piano bar, is close to the Caliente Dance Club.
